Kathy & Centa at the 2015 L.E.T.S. Certification Seminar
Kathy Newman has been involved with K-9 search and rescue for over 30 years. Kathy is a NASAR Sar-Tech II. She has attended over 80 seminars on Search and Rescue and spent 3 weeks at the Connecticut Police K-9 training center, training in Cadaver.
Kathy’s K9 partner is a Belgain Malinois named Centa. Kathy has trained and certified her dogs in Air-Scent, Trailing, Land and Water Cadaver, Diasater, and Evidence. She has also trained and handled her own dogs in the areas of Obedience, Rally, Conformation, and Schutzhund. Kathy has trained dogs to aid the deaf, Police k-9’s, and other service dogs. She was a part-time licensed police reserve for 26 years. Kathy has taught at several seminars around the country and enjoys helping people train their dogs.
Jackie & Zeus
Jackie joined MinnSARDA in 2004 and has served as base and field support. Her first SAR dog, Storm (Border Collie), was Trailing and Land cadaver certified and is now very reluctantly retired. Jackie’s current partner is Zeus, a German Shepherd/Great Dane mix. The team is certified in Land and Water Cadaver. Storm and Zeus share Jackie’s home with her human family as well as Dusty the cat. Jackie has done in-home dog training with various clients in the metro area and has also been a service dog trainer with PawPADS out of Lakeville, MN. When she is not working with dogs, Jackie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and hiking.
Greg & Lincoln
Greg joined MinnSARDA in 2016 with his Doberman Pinscher partner, Lincoln. Greg is a caseworker and primarily assists individuals experiencing homelessness. He is also trained to assist The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services when disasters occur. In addition, he holds his First Aid/CPR, National Incident Management System (FEMA), and Search and Rescue Technician 3 certifications. Born in 2016, Lincoln is a pup of Edward, an international agility and obedience champion bred by Kings Ransom Dobermans. Lincoln is AKC registered and holds his Canine Good Citizen and Area Search certifications. He also holds obedience certificates from Lucky Paws Dog Training and Animal Humane Society. He is loving, loyal, strong, and intelligent.
